Drugs are chemical substances which alters the body and its functions also known as medicines. When they are taken inside the body, they bring change in the bio-chemical system of the body. Drugs are designed to improve the chemical imbalance in the body.

Drugs can be classified as:

  1. Prescribed Drugs (for improving health) - Drugs reduce the effects of diseases, sickness etc. By covering the chemical imbalance thus helping to bring improvement.
  2. Non- Prescribed Drugs (Used by Drugs Addicts Persons) - Non-prescribed drugs are harmful commonly used by drug addict persons. This overdose of drug or non-prescribed drug taking is termed as Drug or non- prescribed drugs taking is termed as Drug Abuse.

Some of the commonly used drugs are:

  1. Stimulants- Cough syrups, sleeping pills, caffeine.
  2. Narcotics- Pain killers, opium, morphine, cocaine.
  3. Beta Blocker- Benzodiazepines, methaqualone, opioids, amphetamines, methamphetamine.


Effects of Drugs Addiction-

Economic Loss, Physical Efficiency Lost, Loss of Senses, Loss of Memory, Declines Appetite, Disturbed Family, Kidney And Liver Damage, Increase cancer Chances.

Psychological Effects of Drug Abuse-

Insomnia, Aggressive behavior, Incessant conversations, Decreased appetite, Increased alertness, irritability, slurred speech, Dizziness, confusion, hallucinations, obsessive behaviours, depression, Panic attacks.


Drugs  as a habit under the influence of bad company; to remove tensions,loneliness etc.This addiction can be stopped by strong determination, hospitalisation,(rehabilitation centre for drugs) and sympathetic attitude from family and friends .
